Question - how do you attach them to the door since you cut out the center that has all the clips? I know some have attachment points in the center.

I build custom street rod interiors. Here are two of the most recent door panels I’ve done.

Great job!! I am going to try it. Did you epoxy the 1/4" plywood to the inside of the panel cut-out? Also, I plan to use door pulls in lieu of the stock armrest door pull. For the panels that you made for your friend, what did you use to make those door pull straps?

I think he said he did fiberglass once it was how he wanted it, somewhere in the original thread.

Thanks to you asking, I now have a project to add to the list. Not gonna just be buying panels...

Have a thought!
I always dislike when trim parts have a hollow feel or sound to them. What'ya think about making the panel and then filling the back-side with spray-foam?
You could then cut it smooth or recessed wherever needed and I bet it'd feel and sound great, plus it'd probably cut down the road noise some...

I did the same without the glass. I made 2, one with a t-shirt and the other with an old neaded up towel. The towel looked better because it looked kinda like rough bed liner, but you don't wanna rub your leg against it lol. I just brushed fiberglass resin on the shirt and towel.

My original doors are in pretty good condition, but would need some repair on the handles and whatnot and I'm unlikely to find used door parts in my area.

I've been doing a lot of building and woodworking lately. If I can find the time, this is happening! Bookmarked!

Where do you guys get your fiberglass resin, and can you help me out on how much? I'm going to take a shot at the 4 doors on my 89 crew cab. Never done this before, don't have a good sense of whether the resin I've been looking at is the right stuff, or how much I should have on hand.

Go ahead and get a full gallon. It’s available at Walmart, HD, auto parts, etc. all the same stuff.

I like the chopped mat. It’s easier the get to lay down in curved areas.

Get a box of 2” chip brushes from Harbor Frieght.

I save my yogurt containers for this stuff so brushes and containers are disposable.

Also, latex gloves.

Mix up a cup or so of resin at a time until you figure out how long you have to use it. Hardener, humidity, temp all affect working time.
