How much should new exhaust cost??

I need a complete exhaust system done on my 85 LWB from the manifolds back. Dual exhaust. Nothing crazy, just simple. I've been quoted in the $750-950 range. Seems like a lot to me. What did your last full exhaust system cost?

Dual exhaust is twice the work, twice the pipes, twice the mufflers, I'd say 600 would be the low end, using steel poop pipe and crimp bends.

I can’t see in the pic that well and it doesn’t mention, but is that system mandrel bent? Most exhaust shops do not have a mandrel bender..at least the ones I’ve called.

Ohhh, okay. I’ve got a set of G Body headers that a guy who did an LS swap sold me. I’m not expecting any major issues. I’ve been told that there are interference issues with the shift linkage on BBC setups, but I cannot attest to any of that personally.

That is only for 2wd trucks just something to watch for. If you can weld you can buy pieces and make your own, I did this on my vette in polished stainless steel for about $800 from header collectors to tips.

It is mandrel bent, and stainless, although 409.

Mandrel bent 2-1/4" aluminized pipes. Your choice of muffler type and tailpipe exit location. At least that was the case on my 82 C10.

Edit: Whatever you get, make sure the pipes are aluminized. I bought a kit from Summit for a 69 C10 many years ago that was not aluminized. The pipes were already starting to get surface rust on them when I opened the box.

And, man, those muffler shop "crush bends" can easily reduce a pipe's effective volume by 30% or more. Same is true of some aftermarket stock replacement mufflers that neck down the pipe internally by 1/2". After all, the easiest way to reduce sound is by "restriction".
