How Fast Can A Squarebody Go?

Hey I'm not hiding it lol. I've toned it WAYYY back as an adult, but any time I drove anywhere as a kid my gas pedal had two positions, OFF and ON. I think the brakes might have had 3 positions, but I mostly used that as an on/off switch too

Did that alot when I was a little bit younger, ran everything max speed.

Now here at 26, I just break the law by going 20-30 over the speed limit EVERYWHERE I go.

with my square i don't recommend going over 65 but it will do 90 that is the fastest i have gone but it will roast the tires on take off.

I daily drive my 79’ k30 crewcab dually. Has stock 350/sm465/205 with 4.10 and 235/85. Old dually will do every bit of 90mph at 4000rpm. Closer to 100mph on the down hills. Don’t think there’s any power after 4k rpm. Just keep my foot to the floor and the truck will run 80mph all day smooth n steady no problem. Only real downfall is the screaming exhaust and 5 mpg lol

Yeah..anyways i like pegging speedometers. I want to ditch the chitty 85mph gauge and get some faster heads for teh TBI.

There is the difference in my tire size and gearing. I am pretty sure I. An run 80 with my foot a good bit off the floor.

I was just out on the interstate and while 80mph was no problem even with the mild hills, I want to revise what I said. It takes more throttle than I remember. 100mph in my truck will be tough to hit I think.

In the most recent high speed drive, Ole Bessie with 415,000 miles, 305 tbi, TH400, and 3.08 gear, fitted with 235/75R15 tires was able to sustain 78mph on I-16 in middle Georgia. She had 3 engines, 2 engine stands, and 4 tires in the bed! Oh, she was on a trailer behind a 26 foot Uhaul truck.

Pieces of sht. Every one of em. He!! I had to pop the tires on a uhaul tow dolly once just to get them to give me a new set of tires for it. X country move and I was putting a half ton 4x4 Chevy on it and the damn tires both had threads showing. Wouldn’t give me tires but said they’d replace them if I had a flat. Weird, I had 2 flats before I made it back to the house, empty!

It actually is a long down hill as Macon Georgia elevation is 380 ft and Savannah Georgia is 45 ft. Just going by the speed that was indicated on my phone using Google maps

Spent many miles like that on the back roads back home. Good times. Now the cops patrol the back roads, so there is no safe place for that anymore.

Ha, wife just got us an insurance discount with the safe driver app bullchit. I don’t see that discount lasting more than the initial 6 months, lol.
Or in other words, she drives a SRT8, son has a Muskrat GT and knows how to use it and I just made a 310 mile commute home yesterday in 4 hours flat. Probably going to blow up the app!
The only 2 vehicles in the stable that might remotely qualify us for the discount are the old K20 and even older CJ 5 and those only get driven around town...

Just givin you a hard time. All in jest. Haven’t been in a u haul in almost 20 years. Rented a Penske the last time so I could get where I was going in 2 days instead of 3!
