Lmc is probably best quality based on other things I've gotten from them. I have no experience with their doors but everything else was very good. That said i've fitted 3 sets of aftermarket doors from different manufacturers and all were terrible

Fitted 2 sets of different manufacturers. Both sucked. On one door the window frame had to be cut off, the angle towards the cab corrected and weld back on.

I just want to take a second for a shout out to my fellow GM sheet metal design engineers.

People like to rag on General Motors quality, especially fit and finish from back in the day, but here you see the kind of major misses one often sees in aftermarket parts. I hear this and see this all the time.

To me it really shows what happens when other people (like outside suppliers) try to do on a small scale what we do all day every day.

Any opportunities to find an original used door near you?

I needed one a few years ago and was able to find one out of Texas, rust free.

LMC probably the best. I ordered Fenders there for LH and RH side. Both lined up very close to the OEMs I had on there. Needed slight adjustments but I believe most will.

I heard Golden Star Auto has quality ones but I’ve never physically used them.

I work for AMD and we carry them. IMO we carry the best fitting replacements. I travel to a lot of shows and talk to all kinds of people and have yet to talk to anyone that was unhappy with our doors. That said...these trucks are like fingerprints, so our doors may drop right on with no adjustments or it may take a good bit of adjusting and finagling to get them perfect. It took us nearly 2 years to perfect these and we have about 15 different full trucks or just cabs here that we've put them on at one time or another. We also developed both the early and the later doors, some companies only list a door for '73-91.

Hijacking the thread but what is the difference for an ‘82 door and other 77 and later doors? I know the 73-76 doors are for the small door panels.

From '77-up they're all the same. '73-76 have the smaller door panels and no provision for power windows/locks.

That’s what I thought. But the way I read his post was that ‘82 specific doors were back ordered. But I’m assuming 77 and up doors are back ordered. Thanks for clarifying.
