how do you align the hood on a 84 suburban? the hood is higher than the fenders and cowl at the rear of the hood.

To start, lube the the hinge pivots, all 10 of them.

Is the rear of the hood possibly resting on the air cleaner? I had this issue for a bit before I realized hood was doing that, changed to a 1" shorter filter element and problem solved. JM2C:party52:

i dont think its resting on the air cleaner...its stock, the truck has a 1" body lift and there isnt any rub marks on the hood insulation.

I will lube everything

Good. After you do that and open and close the hood a few times, then go to the rear of the hood (hood closed) by the hinge and push down. If it moves down, the hinges are not out of adjustment.

What did you have to do? Same hinge type but everything appears to be lined up. Shifting the hood latech over some to see would it catch and nothing.

My 84 Sierra 2500 is doing the same thing. I replaced the original hood with an OEM one and still can't get the back to go down. I even tried raising the cowl panel and that didn't work.
