This truck is all original. The only thing I want to update or change for now is the ride height. Since it needs new shocks and an alignment, I want to get it to have the height of an R20 or 4x4. Maybe it just needs a front level kit? I guess I need to know what tires would be correct too.

You could put some coil spring spacers in the front, that's about you could do other than bigger tires than stock. It'll still ride higher in the rear unless you get the front suspension about 2" higher. V trucks are easier, as I just added a 2" leaf on my V20 and it made it about perfectly level. Were the R trucks still running 15's??

Hi Thanks for responding. Yes, 15 inch. The tires that came with the truck are 235/75/R15. They have the full hub caps. The guy also threw in a set of 15X 9 rally wheels, I bought new trim rings, center caps, and lugs and was all set to put general grabbers 31.8 in on. but the more I look around the more I think I want the stock white wheel with the dog dish cap. Theres a 4x4 square body that I drive by sometimes and its all stock and looks really cool with the stock wheels and the stock height.
I guess I could try spacers in the front. The other thing that I dont like is the rear tires look like they are too far in. Is the 4x4 rear wider? I dont mind if the rear is a little higher, I'm more interested in getting it to look like a stock 4x4.

The rear ends are identical between 2wd and 4wd. They are narrower in the rear than the front stock. I'd be careful lifting the front too much, you'll end up screwing up the alignment and suspension geometry. The proper way to lift it would be to get a lift spindle... but nobody makes one anymore. You can use a GMT-400 lift spindle if you also change to a squarebody 3/4 ton lower balljoint and use the GMT400 steering, upper ball joint, and brakes.

You can achieve the look of an R20/C20, with a 16”rim and a taller sidewall tire 235/85r16.. I’ve seen this done with just a 2” front lift.
but of course there is always variables.

I used one ton springs and 1 1/2 blocks in the rear. And im on 31s
