I've been working on a 89 k3500 I’ve got it to run by squirting gas right down the barrels but I can’t get it to draw fuel from the tank. I’ve changed all the fuses and now believe it could be a fuel pump issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe it just needs a fuel pump. Theyr not too pricey i wouldnt think. Is it mechanical or electric pump? Most recent one i replaced was on an 84 cj7(mechanical) and it wasnt too spendy. Cant remember for sure but i feel like $20-25. Most these squares came with mechanical(lots have been replaced with inline electric), but im not sure on an 89. Someone will chime in. If not , shouldnt b to hard to lookup.

Check power to the pump to eliminate broken wires also, make sure to check the ground as well.

I’m terrible with electrical how would I go about doing that?

It’s an electric pump I just wanted to know if there was anything else I could try bc once I take that tank off I will need a new one.

There is a fuel pump relay on the firewall passenger side. It has a test lead. If you apply 12v to the test lead, it will directly power the fuel pump

I was afraid it might b in the tank but it sounds like ur gettin the advice u need. Good luck!

If the fuel pump is working you can stuff a rag around the filler neck hole and shoot some compressed air in the tank to help it prime up.

Yes that was what I checked first
