As I'm putting more time and money into my truck im getting more paranoid because of how easily these are stolen. I think I came up with a great hiding place for a kill switch but I am having trouble finding the switch I would need to make it work. I was wondering if anyone knows where to look for it.

Also wondering if anybody has recommendations for securing a 79 square. Im putting in two kill switches but Ive had guys on meth steal my large 4 wheeler off gated property without opening the gate, after somehow wiggling it through the small door on the side of an enclosed trailer... the big door on back was locked but not the side door cause it looked too small. But they did. And I learned not to underestimate junkies.

dont worry I was gonna delete the pic after i get it figured out lol. the chances of someone seeing this in the next day or two and finding my truck are pretty slim.

Not to mention my double barrel security system... Here in AZ we don't ask questions or wait for explanations.

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but you could use a tactile momentary switch. Wire it up to a relay in a latching configuration with the ignition coil and the key switch so that you need to hold the button down to trigger the ignition coil. I made a diagram to explain what I mean. I'm not sure how much you know on electrical stuff so I tried to make it as self-explanatory as possible.

thats f'in great. thanks man. Since it is just applying voltage to open the relay I shouldn't have any amperage issues with those tiny things right? I guess it would just depend on what the relay requires to open?

You shouldn't, but it depends on the current required to open the relay. If you have the capability, I would recommend doing some bench testing on the idea. It's just something I came up with sitting at work so please take it with a grain of salt.

If you wanted to be really clever, you could disconnect the horn and make that your momentary switch since it already exists in the horn mechanism.

lol that is clever. I do want my horn though. And ya ill be doing some testing and more research. I was just going to use a simple switch from the distributor but I like this idea better. Doesnt require me to turn anything off when I get out.

Run a fuse on way to distributor.

Run a wire between fuse and dizzy to ground. Wire must be after fuse on way to dizzy.
.
Put a switch in that wire.

Switch would be open to drive.

To set security close switch.

Idiot tries to start car. Fuse blows. Idiot finds switch. Will not start because dizzy is still grounded.

Remember to have a lot of replacement fuses on hand. If you are like me you will forget to turn off security switch and blow fuse.

two separate systems on switches should be good i think. Also going to have a GPS locator but if I have to use it someone is gonna have a real bad day... So I'd rather not have to use it lol.

I had switch and fuse tucked up under opposite sides of the dash. Thief will be looking for switches, not so much in line fuses.

I got this idea from Hot Rod magazine in the mid 1960's.
