Help on Dana 44 sub-model

Rebuilding a junkyard snag front diff. 8-lug Dana 44. Went to order parts and was not prepared to answer questions on sub-model. For example, Denny's Driveline website has sub options such as 44-6F, 44-5F, 44-5 HDF, etc.

The axle tube BOM is not readable so just trying to narrow this down. Any common measurements that can help me determine which sub-model I have? Thank you.

As far as a GM application is concerned, I think the differences are only in knuckles, spindles, hubs and bearings. Everything from the ball joints inward is the same every year.

Would that sub-model designation be cast in the housing webbing, near the diff cover?

In a brief search, it appears there is a small and large bearing D44. Here's a link to another company. Maybe they can help a little more. Looks like 76 was the last year for small bearing and 1977 starts large.

With a little TLC, polish and brake clean I was able to get a BOM code that was valid. Its from a 76 K20. BOM code is 603707-1. Interesting that it has been swapped from a 4.55 to 4.09, but I should have everything I need to get parts now. Thanks all.
