I’m installing a Chevrolet Performance L31R 5.7 Vortec crate engine into my 1978 K20. I kept the original SM465 and bellhousing. When I went to install the starter, I found the stock bellhousing clutch dust cover only fits the two piece rear main seal of the stock engine and is incompatible with the one-piece rear main seal configuration of the new engine. The picture below is of my current cover.

Does anyone know of a bellhousing clutch dust cover that fits the original SM465 bellhousing and a one-piece rear main seal small block?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm pretty sure this is what you're lookin for, but they're pretty proud of it.

I'm lookin for one for a 2 piece seal, if you want to part with yours.

Thanks, Dan. That’s the one for a later model truck with the hole for the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder. That won’t work with my mechanical linkage. I may have to just trim the cover I have to make it work until I can find or fabricate something better.

You can readily buy the cover for a two piece seal from many places. Speedway Motors and 4 Speed Conversions have them for a fair price.

Now that you mention it, I think I'm in the same boat, only opposite. My truck is an 86, with the hydraulic clutch slave, and an earlier engine with a 2 piece main seal.
