Help me identify this push bar?

Hi all,

The guy that sold me my (mostly) ‘78 GMC gave me this push bar with it. The hole pattern on my front bumper doesn’t match the mounting tabs on the bar, and the profile of the bumper is different than mine. Any ideas what this would have come off of? Different year of Chevy truck? Different make/model of vehicle altogether? Am I missing mounting hardware for it? Thanks!

So if the tabs were on the inside of the pushbar would they match up to the bumper bolts?

How wide is the spacing between the uprights? Going off the bumper profile cutout, looks like it's for an 80's Ford.

I don't recognize the top mounts, being on top of the bumper. Either ford or earlier ford or Chevy.

You can also see(a little blurry) the 80's profile on the truck in the second pic.

A 70's push bar will bolt up to an early to mid 80's bare bumper, with possibly a tiny bit of lower bumper massaging. It will just look a little dorky since the bumper shape is different, the pushbar may not sit upright 100% and the frame bolts may not line up, but can work.

How wide is the spacing between the uprights? Going off the bumper profile cutout, looks like it's for an 80's Ford.

Without the bar in front of me, spacing is about 30”. When you look at pictures of the Ford trucks, they have that same recessed feature in the bumper that the Chevys do - but to that point, the profile in this bar is similar to old dodge bumpers…

I know the top mounts are for fogs. I was saying the top mounting brackets. As well as you can tell from my pictures the Chevy pushbars have the mounting tabs on the inside of the uprights.

Then generally the uprights should be a little bit wider than the bumper bolts, maybe like 1/2 inch on each side.

I don’t think you’re missing any hardware. I think you’re supposed to drill your bumper and just bolt it directly to the bumper. My first thought was that it’s for the 88-98 Chevy bumpers, but after looking closer it doesn’t seem to fit the profile. So I think you can rule those out. I’m thinking it’s not for a Chevy or gmc at all. Doesn’t look like a ford design either, as most of those have the tabs on the inside of the upright. Yours being on the outside makes it sorta unique. Unless someone along the way did that to make it fit something it wasn’t designed for.
