I'd like some help identifying this tranny (3 speed from an 81/6 cylinder) and some ideas on available replacements for it. I would like a 4 speed with a highway OD 4th gear. Hopefully, I can still use my hurst shifter and same hole in floor, but, I can adapt.. I know this is a saginaw, but, not much else.

I think that is about all there is to know = Saginaw, three speed.

Really the only other thing that could be known would be the first gear ratio. There were three versions available but I don't recall the exact ratios (3.50, 3.11 and something else).

A RPO MY6 New Process A833 would be an excellent replacement. It is a MOPAR trans with third gear set 1:1 and 4th gear as a mild overdrive (.70 or .73 or so).

I'm looking for a couple of 883s myself. If you find one try to find one from the same wheel base truck and get the driveshaft it is shorter. Also get the shifter it is unique. I don't think you will find one but,if you do awesome Saginaw used to make a 3 speed transmission with an electrically activated O.D.
