I need to replace my heater core. I am only finding aluminium in aftermarket. I read a few reviews that stated aluminium heater cores do not seem to throw the heat that a copper heater core does.
Thoughts?

I put one in my 74(the beater)and it'll turn the cab into a sauna real quick, first time I ever used an aluminum one tho, so that's all I can say about them.

I have an aluminum replacement, and it'll also turn the cab into an oven real quick. I thought the cuprous heater cores went the way as the radiators of the same type.

Well when you put the heat on when it’s 70 out side it’s gonna get hot pretty quick lol

well looks like I will give an aluminium heater core a try. Oh, will it have a grounding screw or do I just drill a hole somewhere? LOL

If this is for a truck without factory AC, make sure you buy a heater core that has a wide frame, like the one on the left. The one on the right allows cold outside air to blow around the sides, more so when the truck is moving, and yet it was listed as fitting my 82 C10.

Haven't tried mine in -30 degree weather, but it blows hot, hot, hot when it's +30 outside.

Thank you for the info! so the question is how do you know if you will receive a wide frame when ordering on line?

You specify with or without AC. There is a difference because of that.

My friend replaced his leaking copper core, with aluminum, and the heat was TERRIBLE. He replaced the aluminum with a new copper core and it made a significant difference and now heats properly. Keep in mind it gets to 10 degrees somewhat regularly in upstate NY. His '87 c20, no AC, worked better with copper. Just one example for you.

Ya, that's what I am afraid of. Problem is finding a copper heater core, do you know where he bought it?

Thanks
