My heater core just cracked and I'm now terrified that I have to do this job now. Truck isn't worth paying a mechanic to do it, and it's my winter vehicle so I need that heater back.

there not that bad of a job. Worse part is that lower bolt on box outside. I can be got without removing fender or inner fender, because up here in rust belt those are not removable till your replacing them lol. the outside fiberglass ac box does not have to be removed, If I recall right there is 3 nuts on the outside and one bolt on the inside and the heater hoses, ductwork inside. take time while you have box down to verifiy all the doors and controls work and seal like there suppose to. fix, oil, adjust as needed before reinstalling. nothing worse than putting it all back together and heat door wont shut off cold air so you only get warm air instead of hot. with no complications its only a 30 min job tops.

I need to replace the heater core in my stepside, I've been putting it off for over a year. The coolant smell in the cab is getting more and more noticeable :baby:
