I am just getting my 84 GMC Flatbed sorted out...

Two of the headlights on the drivers side were broken, so I replaced all 4. I havent driven this truck in the dark in years... So here's the rub, drivers side both high and low beam headlights are bright. Passenger side low beam works but is dim. High beam has no light...?

As a side note the marker on the passenger side fender has no light and the signal in the grille on the passenger side has no light?

I havent had a chance to check any further as it started to pour outside and it was getting dark anyway...

So soon as the weather clears I will check for power at the bulbs that have no light and the condition of the two marker bulbs...

The wiring on the passenger side low beam headlight has two black wires going to the plug, are they both ground??

Any ideas on this if I have no power at the bulbs on the grille, fender on the passenger side?

Thanks for your help...

Steve

Check your grounds. There’s a different one for each side and that’s what it sounds like your problem is

On the radiator support on either side above the headlights black wires with shakeproof ring terminals. Check your headlight connectors they get weak and break and will cause the same issue.

yup missed that while putting front back together....easy to miss, specially passenger side as it's a short wire.

X Whatever. It's the grounds. Take the bolts loose with the star washers. Hit that section where the bolts and washers go with a little steel wool or sand paper. You can also put a finger swipe of vaseline if you wish and then tighten back up.

This isn't P4x4, so you gotta be pretty damn stupid be considered dumb ass here but that's not one of them. A dumb ass would be the guy that gets it fixed and doesn't come back and let us all know what solved the issue.

On the passenger side the grounding ringlet also has a larger lead going down to the frame as well. The ground wire on that side goes:

high beam to low beam, low beam to core support ringlet, core support ringlet to top of frame near fuel pump location.
