Has anybody tried installing headers onto small block prior to installing the engine into their Square Body??

It won't work! They'll also get all crushed and dented if you try.

You will need a quick release latch on your engine hoist. Lift engine (with headers installed) very high and release the catch. You might have to repeat a few times...

You can install and engine with the transmission attached...!

We did. We were not using full length headers though. We used Hedman Ceramic Coated Block Huggers.

Can driver's side be done without jacking engine up?
I didn't have to. It would probably help to have someone to help guide it from above to keep it from hitting everything.

As I have removed the inner and outer fenders,etc., it was EZ enough to prop the header up under the engine and reach down grab it, and snake it through the opening and into position.
DONE !! Now, when my proper reducers arrive, I will fit up the exhaust.
