I’d have switched to Holley gauges or some other analog style that you could hole saw and mount. Then for blinker lights, high beam , SES, etc use LED lights. That’s going to be weird using the stock gauges. Lotta ring terminals and trying to figure out lighting through those gauges. I’d scrap the idea of trying to retro fit bulbs behind them for those idiot lights honestly.

I looked at all new gauges but they are expensive. They do look nice, but I'm cheap and this rig is not going to a beauty contest.
I was looking at a licence plate light mounted on steering column for illumination on gagues. Think that will work ok?

So just ordered the cheapest tach I could find. 12 bucks on eBay. It's out of a boat. Looks similar to gauge faces.

It should work, as long as the pulse changes which I think they all do on a boat. But plenty of boats had SBC and BBC so it should work

So plans getting screwed up now. I think I'm going to have to switch to all aftermarket gauges. My idea of using originals with plexiglass over them has gone to ****. The holes I cut are 2 1/2 holes so finding gauges is more effort. I found a 2 5/8 temp gauge. I might cut a big square hole where I cut the round holes and put in another plate.

Yeah... definitely not something I seen working easily. Aftermarket gauges makes the most sense. Hell start off with Sun pro. BUT in that massive shop you don’t have a Mill?

That's looking real good. I'd just go with some small pilot lights. There's all different colors, sizes and designs available.

On my street/strip truck that I had custom gauges for, I had a blue on the left side of the Temp Gauge, Red on the right side, Oip Pressure had a red to the lower right, Trans Temp had a Red to the lower right. Had a dual temp switch from an older GM car, Blue was for Cold. Cuz of the big cam and not wanting bent push rods and for the gf or my dad to know when to push the choke 100% off, I had the Blue cold light that went off about 100 degrees, Red Temp came on at 240 IIRC, Oil Pressure Red came on below 10lbs, Trans temp came on at 260. I'm a gauge watcher but the gf didn't know what the gauges meant but she knew if a red light came on. Shut it down NOW. Don't wait til the next exit, or I can make it home. You shut that bitch down NOW. Sometimes I was just tired and complacement and not paying attention to gauges, but I wanted it to get my attention if something went wrong. So I had both Stewart Warner Analog gauges and custom idiot lights too.

Yeah, they are. Holley makes good gauges and so does jegs or summit.
Im sure most of those are rebranded.

Auto Meter is Good, Steward Warner is good, they do have a less expesive line now, not sure how good or bad they are.
