Markers for joining-biscuits?

Seems like a reasonable idea. Must be awfully small biscuits though, these things are pretty small.

Okay, here's the mystery tool(s). I have no idea what these are:

They both have that gear-like thing on them that does nothing on these things. I @$$ume the little blades that stick out of the sides are supposed to engage a slot in something else. Being they're brass my guess is they're a woodworking tool, or part of one.

Any ideas?
maybe part of a bead rolling or forming tool for sheet metal...

The plot thickens.

I took one apart to see what the gear thingy does. There is a worm gear inside that is concentric with the vertical axis of the "blade" that will drive the exposed gear. However, it is not connected to the blade and seems to require a small square key that goes through the blade in order to turn it. There is also a detent ball for the blade.

What were these with when you got them? That might help figure out what they are.

Actually, the jaws are set each side of the nail head, then the slide hammer is activated to drive the jaws to below the surface of the wood so that the jaws can grip the shank of the nail, then the whole tool is rotated so that the lever of the one jaw is resting on the wood, then rotated farther to pull the nail.
No wonder the damn thing never worked well for me, lol. Inherited the tool, just never paid attention when I was a kid how to use it...too busy playing with cars to care about carpentry.

Well, that contour gauge for one. It was all in a Kennedy machinist's toolbox. There was a mix of things for machining and mechanical work. There were some measuring instruments like screw pitch gauges, a wire gauge measuring tool and general hand tools. So tinknocking is a possibility, but so is machining and general mechanical work.

I'm betting tinknocking. I will have to ask my neighbor if he has any idea, he's a tinbender and his dad was too, so he may know.

That's a tool for doing valve spring work with the cylinder head installed.

Remove the rocker arm; slip the round hole over the stud and screw the nut down. Pulling back on the handle compresses the valve spring.

I didn't show it but there is a corresponding air inlet, so you can charge the cylinder with air to hold the valves up while you change springs, shim springs or change the valve stem seals or locks top side.

I appreciate the effort. It's been bugging me for a while.

After you explain it one wants to smack oneself in the head and say "Duh!" It seems so obvious now.

You've said that before.
