Thats one of many uses for a refractometer, just about anything from coolant to grape juice. And yep that is a fishing reel.

There are many uses for a sharpie cap. Never had to use as a rod bolt guide, but it should work. First time I cut one up was for fuel line disconmect tool. But later started using thin aluminium sheet instead.

The U shaped ones are for holding a rear axle yoke to keep it from turning while you break the pinion nut loose. (You can put a piece of black pipe on the tail to gain some additional holding force).

The second one is used for cranking the yoke off the pinion once the nut is removed.

I have no idea what this one is. Was in my Dads old toolbox.

I may have an answer for you.

I showed the pic to my "experienced" technician who thinks it was for adjusting idle jets on carburetors. The shape of the spring ends kept it from slipping out of the screw slots, and being a spring it gave the operator some warning before potentially damaging aluminum seats by overtorquing a steel needle valve screw.

No guarantees, but that's what I've got.
