Greetings from East Texas

Hi guys, newbie here from East Texas. Recently purchased a 1978 K20 from Oregon. Don't even have the thing in my possession yet, but am anxiously awaiting pickup time. Managed to convince my wife to fly up and drive it home with me. Have always though a cross country trip in an older vehicle sounded fun, well now that dream is shaping up to come true.

Here it is with its hideous camper shell. Though it will promptly be removed upon arrival home, it will come in handy on the drive home so that we can sleep in the back -at least a night or two. The wife isn't real enamored with the idea, so I'm sure sleeping in the back will be kept to a minimum.

Anyway, look forward to getting to know you guys and learning.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's great to find a group of guys who appreciate these trucks as much as I do. I remember these all over as a kid and always wanted one, so this is a dream come true. Most of my buddies here just drive newer stuff and kind of scoff at the idea of driving an older truck that gets poor gas mileage, doesn't have near the power nor the creature comfort that these trucks do. But, I'm ok knowing that I'm cruising in style and have a monster of a drivetrain (350, SM465, NP205, D44 & 14 bolt).
