The pics don't show it very well, but this short hill was very steep. Parked on it for pics, it could have idled like that all day long. Just the nice normal 'burble burble burble'.

My days of wheeling with a carb are long gone. Sannd dunes in Coos bay oregon cured me of that. Flooding out, hard starts. Converted teh CJ5 to TBI adn never looked back.

Nice pics.

On the subject of loving tbi has anyone had luck upgrading the tbi engine to make more power? I’ve got cam , Vortec heads with beehive springs headers, Am just wondering what else I need for the whole package like tune or how much I should increase the fuel pressure. With every thing I have I should make 300-350hp

I've been tossing around 100 different ideas on what to do engine wise in my 89 suburban! The 350 TBI that's in it runs mint and I think you talked me into keeping it TBI. Its not a race car it's a camping, exploring, hunting mobile how much power does a person really need.

The 456 gears I have do help it to not be unbearably slow.

Nice post thanks for the motivation

I am thinking about putting the TBI from my parts burb on my 80, but it looks like the wiring would be a real bitch. I kept the harness and computer from the burb, so should have everything I need but the electric fuel pump. Has anyone here done a swap?

My tbi burb currently makes 333hp, 385 ft lbs.

Just found a reputable guy that does prom chip programming, guaranteed me min 35 hp and ft lb increases, 75$.

At a minimum, 420 ft lbs from a fuel injected 89 sbc isn't terrible.

When you have something from 198x, it's gonna give problems.

I found the best solution was just to replace almost everything I possibly could.... She hasn't dissatisfied me or let me down much yet!

I also parted out an entire truck to fund the overhaul of my 89 too.
