Here’s the history on the Big Nasty thing. Truck was owned by my wife’s ex-husband for past 7-8 years. He always called it Big Sexy. (He’s an idiot)

Anyways, he parked it in the woods out back behind his mother’s house for past couple years and let the rats chew on it. My wife and I got it from her ex-husband with the plans to turn it into a reliable daily driver for our son.

Well, he’s about to turn 13 and I really didn’t want him referring to his father’s old truck as Big Sexy. When we drug it up out of the woods, my brother says, “Looks more like Big Nasty than it does Big Sexy”.

I’m sure the jab was meant to piss off the wife’s ex.....but it kinda stuck.

Cab is 1979. I have all the specs on where to cut the rectangular holes for the hinges to slide down into. Will be welding a reinforcing bracket for the hinges to bolt on to.

Also pulled the wiper mechanisms from the original cab so that it will all line up and come up through the cowl.

Everything will look like a 1986 when finished. Only exception is I have decided to keep the 79 dash. Door panels are coming from the 86 along with PW/L. But since the 79 dash is crack free and has tachometer....I opted not to swap steering column and dash.
Right on. I knew there was a method and I didn't figure it was very complicated.

So the way it reads, you got the guy's wife and his truck too? That's a pretty good jab at him all by itself, lol.

Im going to pull the bed tomorrow. I have new steps to mount on. Weather permitting I will get the frame cleaned up a little and start putting it back together this weekend.

Yep, dog too. LOL

But it’s kind of regardless of how things came to be. I’m raising all the kids. There’s 5 in all. My oldest boy (step-son) wanted a squarebody like his father has. So, my wife and I told her ex that we would fix it up for the boy. And her ex signed over the title.

So I’m not in it any more than what it’s gonna take to fix it.

as much as the ex-seems like an idiot by naming the truck big sexy and leaving you to raise the kids. At least he cares about the kid and wants them to be happy. there are many people that even though the truck is rusted out and no running would fight tooth and nail to keep it.

I wish it was like that!

He was three months behind on child support. Said he couldn’t/wouldn’t pay. My wife said “hey, give me that old truck and I will let you out of child support for six months”. He jumped on it.

It was my and my wife’s idea to fix it up for our son. It’s sad but true.
