Yeah, never had a problem with the grease. As far as plugs go, stick with the Delco RS45's.

And while your at it, there are some screened vent holes in the bottom of your distributor, make sure those are clean, maybe use some electrical cleaner...might be locking moisture inside the cap and causing your issues.

10-4. I will update when I get to doing this, probably over the weekend.

Jims86, isn't the plug type supposed to be R45TS?

FWIW, I've learned the hard way about not using OEM ACD plugs and plug wires on my Burb. Developed a similar misfire after installing a set of Bosch wires and sparking bolts. My misfire could be heard as interference in the stereo on certain FM stations, *pop*....*pop*........*pop*

I use Bosch in everthing because I spin wrenches on German cars....so I don't consider their products to be cr@p.

I replaced the plugs first, and put AC's back in, no change. Replaced the Bosch wires next, with a standard ACD set, misfire eliminated. It's still got just a bit of roughness (barely noticeable) when cold, but once warmed up, is perfect again.

I run MSD stuff on mine. Sounds like a problem inside the dizzy. Had one come in the other day at work and replaced cap and rotor with factory ACD stuff and it was fine afterwards........

Maybe that is a low compression cylinder and it's unburnt stuff?

The picture of the block looks like it may have been sucking a little water, like a head gasket starting to leak a bit.

Could have been blown head gasket, if you look at the head gasket on the block in the first pic, between those 2 middle cylinders, the gasket looks like it was bad between them.

Does the deck of the block warp? Is that something that is possible?

Yes it can, you can have the block and heads decked for a true flat surface. I cant be sure that's what's wrong, a compression test would have helped, it's just something different that caught my eye.

You can check the block surface and heads if you have a certified straight edge and feeler gauges. If any of the surfaces are more than .004" out you need to take it to a machine shop of you can just replace the part. A block can warp but more than likely the head has warped. That is the only complaint I have about the Vortec heads, they will not handle as much heat has the old heads because the deck surface is thinner.

So is it your opinion that white **** is from water in the cylinder?

That's what it reminds me of, unfortunately. Call a machine shop, they could tell you for sure. They see that stuff 20 times a day I bet.

The white **** is contamination in the combustion process. The pattern on the block is the reason for suspecting a problem. It should have the same gasket pattern as the other cylinders do.
