Where is the “esc” line or wire? ThanksThe code 42 means that the ESC line is disconnected or shorted. Did you ever find the connector on the brown wire? Is it connected or disconnected? WHile that code is being set, you should be able to set the timing to 0 BTDC and then set the idle usign the correct procedure. Then you need to troubleshoot why you are getting that code.
code 42 is EST. electronic spark timing. it's a single black and tan wire coming out of the harness by the brake booster. it's also visible coming from the Ignition Control Module into the main harness at the distributor.
Thank you I haven’t changed the timing but I have put a new ignition module on recently and no codes up until now. I also forgot that the very skinny black vacuum hose was not hooked up so I added some duc tape and a straw hopefully after battery disconnect it will clear the codecode 42 is EST. electronic spark timing. it's a single black and tan wire coming out of the harness by the brake booster. it's also visible coming from the Ignition Control Module into the main harness at the distributor.
