Good ground for amp?

Safe to ground amp anywhere in cab? Or is that a hack job

No issue with that. IF the cab has sufficient grounds. IE, you’re not grounding more than the current (no pun intended) path back to battery can handle.
Rule of thumb ground need the same capacity as the source (+). If you’re just hooking up one little amp, likely fine. If you’ve got some real power running then far better to run new/clean grounding.
Same with power. Don’t cobble together your power and grounds.
Longer answer, what size wire is needed and what current is it carrying? If you don’t know, use the amps specs and an online calculator. Then decide if your (likely original?) ground strap from cab to chassis and chassis to engine and battery ground to chassis or engine are sufficient.

My ground for the amp is connected to the seatbelt bolt. It's a thick bolt that has plenty of connection with all the threads that goes through the floor. Then on the other side (under the truck) I took a nice 2g cable with ends on it and connected to the same seatbelt bolt and back to the frame.
