Yeah, I get that part. So did these people that have been talked about on this page ask to be paid back a certain portion of their payment while trying to negotiate with you?

No, I think they try to build some trust first. I think they would try to set the hook once you agree to the deal so they can gain a little bit of control and then make it seem difficult to back out. A person who avoids conflict could easily be perswaded to go along once the process is started.

Yeah, I can see that. Interesting. I know it's bad but this is why I get leery anytime I hear a foreign accent on the phone. My radar automatically goes off.

I work with international customers often and spoted the way they communicate. First red flag was that he indicated what currency would be used. When he said 50usd I knew he was forign.

Smart man, you are I'm hardly ever in contact with people from other countries so I would have never picked up on that I would have just assumed he was being clear. I may have only found it odd since the transaction was taking place in the US so figured the "usd" was a given.

These types of things is why it's such a pain to sell stuff these days.

Well, I got a third strange inuiry. Time to pull the ad for a few weeks. Probably should wait to hear what insurance wants to do anyway. So this gives me a good excuse to drag my feet on getting rid of stuff just yet.

I've been thinking of redoing the way I have my contact number shown, replacing some of the digits with the word instead. Don't know if this will slow them down or not.

Many times I won't even give my phone number. I'll just say to email me through the ad and we will start there. It's pretty easy to know what's spam and what's not via email for me and has been pretty successful for me recently.

Makes sense. I always wondered way some people on there only had an email contact. I just hate waiting to get a response back. Usually if I call, I'm ready to get in the truck and go buy something. Both the spam responses I've got were through text. Maybe I'll try the email route.

Yeah, it is a bit more painful and more steps but helps you weed through the riff raff a little bit. The other pain is then you have to check email more regularly LOL

Yeah and make a nice lil profit. The wife bought it for $500.00 eight years ago. Everyone in her family thought it was a POS when I met her but it has been my DD for the last five years. I just fixed what needed fixing over the years.
