^Great work!
And to add to your justification for the time spent, I bought a new repop GMC hood ornament for the boys 86. It is going on 3 years old and has seen only a few months of being parked outside and no real weather to speak of and it’s already beginning to look like poop under the plastic cover. Rather disappointing especially since the truck is garaged 90% of the time or more.

You would think with all the advances in polymers/epoxies/paints that they could make a 2"x2" piece of plastic that would survive atmospheric re-entry on the space shuttle for under $10 these days...

Next problem...does anyone know where to source the gaskets for the hood ornament/emblems? It looks like a 1mm piece of plastic/clear vinyl I could probably trace and cut, unless it's available somwhere?

I also need the set for the roof rack, which I would assume I could cut and trace from the same stuff but if it's available somewhere it would sure save me some time!

Trace and cut, I have only seen this with a new ornament.
