Hey All,

I’m putting my Suburban back together and trying to clean it up as I go. Does anyone know if they sell a complete “paint gasket” kit for emblems, etc?

Also, I was trying to restore my existing hood emblem if anyone has any tips or posts they could point me towards? I’d consider a repop but I can’t find the silver GMC variety and after staring at it for a couple of years, I have actually come to prefer it over the red one..

I restored my Cheyenne emblems and the Camper Special emblems for my C20 with One shot paint.

I could be wrong but I've never seen a silver one, they all were red to my knowledge. I'm kind of in the same boat (mine's silver and faded out too), I kinda like mine being silver over the bright red. That's part of why I haven't replaced mine yet

Oh wow, so the silver paint is really just a faded red?? I wonder if it was metallic because the backside looks very silvery as well??

Or....was the plastic badge red tinted, silver painted on the back and all of the red pigment washed out of the plastic? That seems more likely?

Kinda feel like Indiana Jones tracking down all the ways these trucks came out of the factory/dealers, haha

I've never taken one apart but here's my original emblem that still on my truck. It would've been red originally

This is what it would've looked like originall

There's also this guy on eBay that will do them whatever color you want. I've thought about having him do me a fresh one in either silver or blue with red GMC letters. I think that would flow better on my truck than the stock emblem that's so red
