I actually expected alot more people to post
The forum gets a little weird with the build threads and they dont show up in the normal "recent activity" section on the right side. If you have a specific question it is often better to ask it in the specific forum section in it's own thread and then post the overall changes to the truck here in the build thread.
I'll try and answer some of the things I've seen in here so far though. You can tell year and basic options of the vehicle from the VIN. That includes the original and the cab VIN.
The ride will be noticeably softer with a 56" spring over a 52".
There is in-fact a company that makes a disk brake conversion for a 12 bolt truck rear end and you can tell original gearing for your rear axle using the first three letters stamped on the top of the passenger side axle tube of the rear end.
There is no benefit to changing style of vacuum booster and master cylinder. In fact, the heavier duty JB7 brakes used the metal master cylinder reservoir all the way into the late 80's I believe. The different master cylinders will need to match your specific brake equipment.
You can find all service manuals and wiring diagrams in the "resource library" section under the service manuals sticky. They are downloadable PDF's.
Quoting someone's post or putting an @ symbol before typing their name will tag and alert people to a response, or if you have a specific question for them to make sure they see it the next time they log on. Otherwise responses and answers can get lost in the system without people knowing you want to talk to them or are responding to their posts.
