Called the DMV today. After the first person hung up on me I called back and got a guy that was helpful. I got a 30 day extention to get this thing passed.

That's nice, the WI DMV is pretty decent over the phone/web. The local office near me sucks.

I'm so glad I don't have to put my vehicles on a sniffer or have the state hook up to the PCM. All of them are stock but still. I do agree with safety inspections though, there are lots of heaps that have no business being on the road.

Nice burb, I always liked the 4wd. We had an 05, fully loaded and low miles, did a water pump and wheel bearing and some cosmetic things like grill and tails and paint work, and we loved it. So much room, wish we hadn't have traded it in. The air conditioning was so powerful, when we went to Disney world with the rest of the family during a hot august, the rest of the family decided to ride in our burb with us from the villa to the park everyday lmao. Rode like a dream too

And really, they're not too bad on gas really. The overall comfort and utility that they have is unbeatable.

Yeah, I really like it but if I can't get it to pass inspection it's a lawn ornament! Another drive cycle down and still two monitors out. It's my luck I decided to be honest and correctly indicate what county its kept in and now I have this trouble. I wanted a square Burb but opted for this one to appease the wife. Now I am stuck with a headache!

I wish they had a basic safety test instead of smog testing. Lights, brakes, tires, frame not rusted through, passed. But none of that matters - apparently it's safer to have a completely rotted out piece of junk with half the lights out, useless brakes, and bald tires than to have a few extra parts per million of something the human eye can't see.

I'm never going to understand California.

I can't read libe data with my code reader so I can't watch the O2 sensors to see if they are funky or if a cat is bad. This came up after I replaced the aftermarket intake with a factory one. There was a leak down stream of the MAF that may have been affecting the fuel trim and thus causing issues with one or both of the cats. I also noticed the engine temp fluctuates by 6 deg while running on the interstate. The weather has turned colder here now and the engine temp has dropped as a result. Time for a stat.
