Hey guys. I have a question on a broken part. Its on an 85 Chevy g30 motor home running a 350. Easy to deal with for the most part but some things broke and I need to get them replaced.

What is this vac valve attached to the thermostat called??

Just checking, but do you have a part number cast into the part somewhere?

Hopefully there’s a GM number on there that you can reference. Report back, and I’ll see if my G30 literature has anything to that affect.

i have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. i just got to pulling that valve and no numbers. i am at a loss as to what it is.

also does this thing have a choke heater? this one goes from the carb, to this, then back up to the carb. this piece mounts INTO the intake manifold so i am confused. i know the mopars run a thermostatic choke but does a 350 run one too???

Oh yeah. The Quadrajet was made in both divorced and electric choke variants. I’ll attach a picture of the mechaninism and the carb. What you have there looks odd, at least to me. The divorced choke setup is pretty much the bimetal heat sensitive spring and a rod. Also, I’ll check to see if I can find anything with regard to your other piece. My service manual covers both the P30 and G30, and it’s more P30 oriented, but maybe I dig up something. @CorvairGeek knows about a lot of odds and ends stuff like this.

thank you. yeah it is an odd duck this one.

that divorced setup looks like the one on my 77 power wagon. but mine is an electric heated with a heat well.

I'm at a complete loss on both these. I didn't think that style choke made it out of the 70s in the Chevrolet division.

That type of choke heater is most common with the modified series of quadrajets (post 74).
Carb for my 79 c10, It uses a similar style housing to an electric choke, but has a tube that connects to the heat stove.

Carb on my 76 c10. Behind the air cleaner stud is a tube that runs to the stove, then the tube goes from the stove to the inlet on the choke housing.

The style of divorced choke @1987 GMC Jimmy shows is what was used on pre 74 carbs. My 71 400sb (Bay City 2bbl) and my grandfather's 72 c20 (350, 70xxx series Q-jet) both use that type of choke.
