I have some brand new headers hanging in my garage waiting to go on my SS, at some point hopefully. I got to wondering if anyone has ever tested the fitment of G-body headers on a squarebody? I am not saying I want to use them, but I do seem to run into deals for G-body headers much more often than squarebody headers.

Headers...even the ones speced out for our trucks don't seem to fit correctly. Best bet is to remove the drivers side manifold and test fit. I have a street rod shop less than 5 miles from my house that sold me a set of long tube headers for my 87 350 motor thats in my 84 silverado. They fit, although I did have to wallow out the front drivers side mounting hole. The fabricator missed the hole alignment by 1/8" off center. Other than that, they fit perfectly. Frame clearance on both sides and spark plug clearance are usually the issues with truck headers.

From what I hear, long tube 2nd gen camaro headers fit as well as 3rd gen Chevelle headers. They tuck much better than long tube truck headers.

I was told that as well, but best bet would be to trial fit them at least to check for the mounting hole alignment. I bought specific truck long tube headers and STILL had to wallow out the driver side front mounting hole. There's always issues with headers no matter what. You either have to modify the motor mounts, shave down parts of the frame, or wallow out holes. Hell...I have even seed people notch a down tube to clear the steering shaft. Test fit for the best fit.:)

3rd gen(70-72) chevelle headers ARE g body headers. Same as 80's camaro.

And I've had to message all of my headers to make them clear the best

Green why kind of deals are there for gbody headers in your area? Mine have seen their better decades.

At the moment there are none on my local CL, but I have seen probably a dozen sets over the last 4 months or so. Most of them are between $40-$100 for used ones. A couple of new sets have been around $200. I have also seen a couple of decent sets on montecarloss.com. I can keep my eyes open for a good deal if you want.
