Is there any kind of an exploded view / parts checklist for rebuilding a 4wd suspension? Bearings, seals, u-joints, etc. Was even hoping a company sold a complete "kit", but have seen nothing that covers it all.

Local old timer is great at rebuilding the axles - but unless you bring him the parts, its a pig in a poke of what brands he grabs. Kind of want to keep this strictly Moog, Spicer, etc. and have to have it ALL before I take them to him.

Have searched the hallowed archives here and found several asking similar questions. Some were responded to with references, but no PNs, or lists, per se. Thought it might be a helpful posting for future ******* attacks by myself and others. :hat:

Thanks fellas.

This can get crazy few variations over the years d44 hubs had small and large bearings, tREs and drag link changed a bit over the years too. you mention bearings so I mentioned axles but one could debate if it’s “suspension work.”
you want suspension , axle, and steering part #s?

YES. Everything on this truck is 35 yrs old and untouched. 2 of the axle seals are wet and both pinion seals are leaking. The whole thing is getting disassembled so just wanted to do it all - probably will be a long while before I have the opportunity to do it again.

I just know there are many parts (inner - outer, etc)....would be my luck I'll miss one or two. If there's different sizes - last cars I worked on had 3 different potential drive shaft ujoints - I can measure and get the right ones. Have time at the moment to collect parts - just needed a check list. :waytogo:

THX!

So what differentials you got? What transfer case? Any RPO codes for beefed suspension? Any special modifications that are possible? 35 years old and untouched, to be fair, maybe untouched that you know of? Never hurts to consider the possible of the previous owners.

Un-touched.

A simple list would suffice. Thank you.
But what im saying is the list could... be different depending on what the truck came with. Like, do you have an RPO sheet so we can verify if stock or upgraded replacements are necessary vs throwing a Part number at you that might be incorrect. As example, my 3/4 ton has a heavy duty front and rear, which has different leaf count.

I dont need PN's - they will differ on 4wd vs 2wd; brake sizes, etc. All I need is a grocery list such as inner-outer seals, bearings, u-joints, etc. I will measure / apply what mine takes which is obvious will vary. Just believed there would be an exploded view somewhere in cyber-land.

I have new leaf springs, shocks, etc. Am more in need of axles and the steering component details. I have some parts - just need to make sure I have them all before the axles are taken to the rebuilder.

I seeeeee, my bad. I thought you were asking for a list of numbers more or less. you mean a literal list, gotcha.

I think he is just looking for general information, since most diffs will have mostly same components.....then he can figure what type parts to use when he figures out what he has.....like he would need, inner and outer race and bearings x 2, axle shaft and seal x 2, fluid for a rear axle (dont forget any gaskets or just rtv goop) and for front...the same, plus ball joints (or kingpins) tie rod ends, swaybar links, etc. if he wants part numbers, then yes we would need to know specifics and he is an idget for not realizing that....lol
