I guess you guys missed the rare and collectable thread. Every piece of these trucks was an option. Cargo light, extra. Quad shocks, extra, bumpers,.. had to spec those too.

FWIW, my '85 fleetside has 20 gal tanks. As far as I know, at least at that time, the "upgrade" was dual tanks.
It's strange how mine was originally a fleet truck for a crane company and it has this specific set of pretty good options. You'd think it would be a bulk base model or something.
I deciphered the glovebox sticker and its really interesting.

Now that I think about it, is the cargo light standard?
I never noticed it on other trucks I've driven, but mine has a slider switch above the driver's head to turn on the cargo/bed light. Kinda neat.

I've had 4 of these truck over the years, ranging from base custum delux to Silverado, and even 1 mil-spec cucv, none of them had a cargo light. Lol.

Avoiding you mean, not missed.

I don't have a cargo light or even an inside cab light. I keep a cheapo light with a magnet stuck to the cab roof. Magnet sticks because there's no headliner either..

I was thinking about doing the all metal roof option to mine, actually.

At least I got rid of the "wasp nest on the headliner" option that the PO had on there.

So I checked some past gas receipts and my usual fill up is around 9 gallons with around 1/4 tank left. 11 galons or so if it's real low. Guessing I have a smaller replacement tank, I always thought it looked small. You guys and your luxurious 16 gallon tanks. haha

Lol....
I bet you have 16s and a bad gauge. Test it out. :D

What's funny is........you know how I have that ongoing fuel leak and the tank doesn't look that old?
Well when I pulled the bed, I found out it's a spectra premium tank. GM11.
I just bought 2 spectra premium GM11 tanks.
Nobody knows if they'll be better.

And I found out that the stock rh tank wasn't even hooked up at all.

The inside of the tank is also very close to the worst I've ever seen (I've seen some really bad motorcycle tanks, though, so....lol)
Check out the pump/sender. Ho-Lee-****.

Whats the chance I could put a pair of 16 or 20 gallon tanks in my Suburban, in addition to the factory 40 gallon tank? I want to be able to move diesel and gas without carrying cans....? I'm thinking a set of straps and some plumbing and it would work. Anyone know?

Just go into Mexico and you will see that you can put more fuel in any vehicle you own. It you have a 16 gallon tank? No problem, they can put 89L in there with room to spare.

Not with factory parts you won't. Frames and floor stampings are different between the pick-ups and 'burbs. Not saying you couldn't get custom made tanks to fit, but factory would be no bueno.

I know if it was a single tank on a 76 Long Bed, it was a 20 gallon. I have one of those. I bought this 76 Short bed recently with 2 tanks and they are a 16 gallon. I don't know if you could fit 20s in a short bed. And the straps may be a little off for the 16s in a long bed. See if a bed mount bolt will work to hang the straps on the tank.
