Fuel filter inlet leak q-jet

So I replaced my fuel filter a while ago, and now I think I stripped the threads in the carb inlet. Unless I am missing a gasket or something in the fuel filter assembly. It was leaking pretty bad. Here's some pics of the threads, but I was wondering what options I have in terms of fixing the threads. I dug through some old forum threads and found out about the tomco self threading repair kit, but how does that work? Will loctite blue do me any good maybe?

I don't know if there's much you can do with the threads on the carb. I'd find out what the threads are and buy that tap(bottom tap) not a starter tap with the pointy end. Then run it in the carb to chase the threads and maybe clean them up enough to work. I don't know of anything you could put on the threads that would seal it that the gas wouldn't eat up.

Here's the type tap you'll need. Sorry that happened to you man. Maybe somebody else has a different idea but, that's what I'd try.

I think your gasket is missing on the end of the fitting where the filter is (3rd pic). Its easy to come off or get kinked and you will never seal it without it. Its just a nylon ring that fits in the lip on the piece. You may have enough threads left once you get the gasket in place. Tighten just enough to seat the gasket. You can buy just the gasket at AZone.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your help! Hopefully thats all I need. I might order it on quadrajetpower.com to make sure I get the right one. I found one at autozone but it is 8 bucks and might not fit.

That is almost certainly your problem. People used to have issues stripping the threads, and one of the companies (Dorman, Help) made a fitting that would self tap. Just another thought IF the gasket does not help.

Thank you so much for noticing that. I ordered the gasket from quadrajetparts.com and got a pack of 5 for about 3 bucks. It took 2 weeks to ship but it was on the post office not them. They had some pretty decent customer service. Once I finally got it, I pulled my truck in the garage got out my new 1 inch wrench and it took me 5 mins to finish everything. Works like a charm! I'm really glad it was that and not the threads because that would've been much more complicated.

It all makes sense now because when I originally changed the fuel filter the fitting was so tight I couldn't get it off. It took like 20 minutes to break it free. I think someone had the same leak and just tightened it to Oblivion until it didn't leak. As soon as I changed the filter though is when the leak started. But now it's 100% dry. Now I am able to drive it finally! Thanks so much for everyone's help.

You can also use a small brass brush and vacuum cleaner to clean out the threads of the carb and along with the suggestions above, use some plumbers/Teflon tape on the threads.
