Thanks for that link, looks like they have just about everything you would need to fab a filler. Unfortunatly the only hoses they have for stepsides are the ones with the fuel doors, not the early ones that I need.
Let me see if I have the part number for the radiator hose I used for my older Stepside with the exposed filler

I have the same issue in need of a temporary solution, filler neck hose is shot on my 76. Any chance you found that part number?

Thanks. I haven't seen this site before. Did you stay with the OE type or did you go with the stainless? Is the extra cost for the stainless worth it?

Stainless is worth the price jump.

Hope this helps

My truck has a one inch hockey puck lift
So yours may need a different hose
But these will be close

We usually go to the same parts store
They offered my teenager a job cause we’ve been in there so much

The first time we made up a guide bending a coat hanger and took it to the store and asked if we could go in the back and find a match

Also did that with the wife’s turbo diesel beetle
Needed a upper hose today , VW said six weeks and $90
Took the old one in and found a hose on the rack for a Saturn that was perfect in the center , just cut some off each end

Disclaimers:

I fully understand that coolant hoses are not designed for gasoline filler hoses
And that the fuel will not be good for them and that they will need to be inspected regularly and replaced every couple of years

I have not found any place that sells hoses for early Stepsides so this is the only option

Thanks!!! I am going to switch to a custom setup with a locking aircraft style fuel cap, this should get me by for a couple months until then. I will be sure to inspect it with every oil change just to be safe.
