Front edge of hood sitting high.

Hello first time posting here so bear with me.
I have a 78 jimmy that previously had hood pins. I installed the factory hood latch and the front edge of the hood now sits high when latched.
I don’t have the hood catch lever installed as of yet.
The latch loop is as far in as it can go with the jam nut on the outside.
Is there an adjustment I’m missing for the front edge of the hood? The back cowl side sits high but can be pushed down to line up.

Probably worn out hood hinges. The 70's hinges were bad about that as well as 67-72. I would try adjust the hinges and hood first, have you messed with the bumpers on the core support? Those should slightly dictate the gap.

The hinges look replaced rather recently. The previous owner installed the chrome ones.

I will see if I can adjust them down. There is a lot of pressure lifting it in the back.

They're probably just cheap junk then. I would try and source some quality ones or decent originals. If you can't get it adjusted.

I know nothing about Chrome but maybe it's the Chrome springs having an effect? If it's even possible. Pics ??

I can't see the Chrome. Maybe they just painted old ones with chrome or aluminum paint.

I live in northern Canada. They are chrome but the pit and go dull very quickly with our weather

I wish I had more advice on this but It's possible you're hinges are tweaked or just poor quality like mentioned before. How bad Is it when closed? Everyone on here wants pictures lol.

I have a 1977 hood on my 1980, and the hood sits higher

part of it IS the adjustment on mine, because I didnt bother, but the hood being the wrong year for myfenders is the main rerason

The newer hoods have a flat nose, the "rib" in the center of the good dies into it instead of wrapping all the way to the edge.

You could be on to something here. I was finishing up the hood latch and realized there is no catch latch hole on the hood.

I'd say you have an early 70s hood with a late 70s remote release hood latch. The safety hook was oriented differently on the early "outside" release latch. Should be able to pop a slot in the hood and get it to work. There a good witness mark on the hood. Good news is it looks like you figured it out.

Yes, the remote hood release setup has that hook looking thing on the hood The front end hood thing should be like a pointy pin if memory serves

I’m happy to say I have it sitting down properly now and I even have the hood catch working.
