I would like to soften up my spring rate in my 86 short bed. I see that Moog list two different springs for a C-10, I was wondering if there were any other spring options I might have missed. Any suggestions or ideas?

I believe the two different springs offered for a c10 was one for a small block engine and one for the extra weight of a big block engine. But I could be wrong.

Moog 6454 is for 1-ton, heavy-half/big-10, and big blocks, and are 1060lbs-in.

Moog 6452 is for everything else and are 843lbs-in.

They may be a common spring size, and you might be able to find a softer spring out of a circle track catalog. Or convert to coilovers. Or air bags.

Shocks alone can change the ride quality considerably.

I did some more research, my truck came with IF60 HD front springs and IG50 HD rear springs. Was hoping to find the difference in HD and none HD springs. Going to rebuild all the suspension on this truck and i want a nice soft ride.

HD are the 1-ton springs. HD front ~and~ rear springs make a "Big-10" or "Heavy-Half" suspension. I can see why you want a softer ride (grin).

My truck came with HD rear leafs, but stock front coils. I ~just~ bought HD front coils (Moog 6454) to ~increase~ front rate.

Yes, its pretty stiff. I installed an aftermarket big sway bar and it handles great but with the increased bar dia. its even stiffer. I will try the 800 pound moogs, RockAuto has a great price on them. Thanks for the reply.

I have a 91 suburban that has extra leaf springs that the PO put on it for towing his pontoon boat. Would the springs y'all are talking about (or something similar) help bring the front of my truck a bit? It doesn't have a real bad slope to it, but it is pretty noticeable. I like having the extra leaf spring since we have a horse trailer we tow and when it is on the truck, the truck is nice and level.

TIA.

My '87 has the light duty springs, and they are really too soft. I am adding air to both ends to increase spring rate, and help with towing.
