Hey y'all,
I started thinking about getting my dads truck, a '78 K10 "Ol' Blue", running again and a guy I work with who has a real nice Squarebody pointed me here. I've got to say, this is a pretty sweet site. I've learned a lot from here.
I finally bit the bullet and decided to start to work on the truck. The motor and transmission both need rebuilding (my fault, both of them). I decided to rebuild the motor myself. It was something I always wanted to learn. I pulled the motor and tore it down to find #7 cylinder had spun a rod bearing. I began pricing machine work and parts, and quickly realized I wasn't gonna risk that much cash on my zero motor building experience. So I had the machine shop put it all together. And it's beautiful.
I'm slowly getting things torn down and cleaned up so that when I get the transmission rebuilt and motor back in I will be able to take to the highways again. This has led to more questions, at the moment gauge related, so I figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions to come. As I've said, I've learned a lot from just reading here, and I generally don't post very much. Every forum has it own pros that know the subject matter much more than me, so I just listen.
I'm going to try to get my Build Thread up here in the next little bit. We'll see how that goes.
