I could use the glass out of the door. I'm in PHX but my son might go to Escondido next month. If you still have the door/ glass, I'll take it. Obviously first come, first served. Id just hate to see you scrap it if nobody else wants it.

Advantage of driving Goldie to work - I can wander out to look. Pics ! Well, of one without the shield.

I am guessing that it just goes over the straps and there are nuts and bolts.
Just looked at mine and tried to get some pics, but had two issues that got in the way of better pictures. My legs are way too sore from a workout gone awry, and there’s a v5 hitch in the way. Anyhow, here’s what I was able to see.

This may’ve jogged my memory a bit too… @bucket asked about the make of the hitch bumper on my pickup. I think Valley was the brand of that bumper.

This is so true. I had 4 stock wheels and tires from a '78 3/4 ton. Put them up on the corner with a for sale sign. A couple days later I came home from work they were gone. I though my wife sold them for me, no, someone ripped them.

Are they not common? Now I need to look under ours…

All I can say is that in the last 20 years, they are not common to find on parts rigs in Ohio or surrounding states. Back when square Burbs were a common sight on the road, many seemed to have the skid plates.

I have a drivers side rear door with glass, no hole for exterior handle. A skid plate for a 40gal tank. And a door mounted ladder for rear barn doors. In SoCal near Glamis and Ocotillo Wells.
I been blasting through those areas on my KLR lately going over to Julian and back to Yuma. Maybe one of these weekends I can meet you if you're available?

Makes sense. It does look like salt would get trapped up there.

I've never seen one that was rusted out. Maybe most of them with skids wound up in junkyards that were full service only and none made it to the self serve yards or parted out on CL. I'm not sure, it really makes no sense.

its simple. You bungee the ladder to the seat, bolt the skid plate to the ladder, and put the door on the skid plate. And stick to the sand as much as possible. Which is not hard between here and Yuma.

Sounds good. Gotta get the burb smogged, and registered, then maybe a trip to the trails between Ocotillo and Plaster City.
