Fwiw, the boxing kit should work fine, I have an 87 frame under my 91 body.

The folks on Pirate tend to heckle (even more so) the big giant mud trucks.
The K5 frames changed in '78, they kick out a bit towards the rear, but the front section is basically the same between the two. Imho, the front half is what would benefit the most from boxing anyway.

I think somebody makes a kit with all the metal precut and bent for boxing the frameColorado k5 is another good site
Don’t know why you’d want that much lift
I’ve seen K5s on 44s with a 4” lift and fender trimming
max out on a rti ramp
Planned on reinforcing it for sure, but hydraulic assisted steering is the name of the game here, so alot of the stress will be alleviated with a 2x10 ram up frontQuestion time...
If you box the front of the frame does it make the rest of the frame more prone to crack where the frame "boxing" leaves off?
Also, I wouldn't forget the reinforcement plate for the steering box.

I must ask, for my application, with a 1200# front axle, 330# each tire, 900# rear, is boxing just the front necessary? No sarcasm intendedIf boxing just the front half, the boxing plates would need to 'taper off' into the unboxed section. Much like the '88-'98 truck frames.
I'll tell you, reading over this again, i meant to word it like, with all of that weight, is boxing just the front going to be enoughIf you want to run it hard, I'm sure it will help the frame a bunch. The rear has the body structure to help strengthen it.
