You can always try to recover the paint. I did with mine. I used meguiars diamond cut on it and put show car glaze and wax on top of that. Paint looks great and it will take minor scratches and surface rust out as well! Takes lots of elbow grease and a decent amount of time though. I have pictures of my truck in my build thread.
