Foamy oil

So I was getting to work on my choke and noticed this. I plan on changing the oil should I replace PCV

kinda looks like what comes out of my oil catch can I have hooked up to one of the valve covers on my LS.

Kinda looks like a blown head gasket or some other leak into the oil chambers.

Bad head gasket was my thought. Usually thats the culprit.

Well youd need to put it on top dead center and pull the distributor, intake, valve covers then heads... for starters. Im gunna stop there because i do this backyard mechanic like. Others are super about doing it correctly and by the book. I just change gaskets and make sure surfaces are clean and smooth then reassemble and torque in sequence by the book. I dont check block or heads for true-ness and i reuse head bolts. Its really not too hard. Ive done it in the drive way under the shade tree. Some one better will tell you more im sure

Oh and i forgot youll need to reset the rockers.

Does the oil on the dipstick look the same? If that looks fine it could just be a build up of condensation in that breather. If the oil on the dipstick is also milky then its most likely a bad head gasket. Loosing coolant is also a good sign of a bad head gasket.

Dipstick is good and coolant is good, going to change oil in the morning and pcv/breather see how that works out.

I have gotten that(Condensation) on a few vehicles(on the oil caps). Usually relates to humidity and typically for me when the engine had the longer oil fill necks.

If the oil comes out looking like that then its a big problem.

1. Meh.
2. Fel-Pro.

I've seen that in LOTS of VW's that did not use a detergent oil and their crankcase breathers were all gummed up.
Changed all of their filters, changed the oil; end of milkshake. Easy fix.

Hope it's not a blown head gasket.

I'll suggest something no one has suggested : how often do you drive it?
Do you just fire it up and drive it down the driveway the shut it off?

running the engine for short periods of time then shutting it off causes condensation in the crank case and motor.
