The flywheel is held on my 350 by 6-11/16" bolts. I was able to break 4 of them loose, but 2 will NOT break for nothin. The impact just rounded them off pretty bad. Now I have 2 rounded heads. Need some help! Has anyone ever had to get one of these out the hard way? Extract it or easy out? Please tell me theres a way.. Im in need of some suggestions, Thanks.

Use heat. They are probably secured using locktite and the only way to loosen them is with heat.

Thanks I will use heat for sure. Ive been looking all over the internet and I have found 2 things to try. A craftsman bolt-out, or to weld a good nut onto the head of the stripped bolt.

You can weld the biggest nut you can find that fits the bolt head the fill the center of the nut with weld and try to zip it off when it's red hot, the heat from the weld will heat up the bolt. If the nut comes off try again. That's what I always did with oil gallery plugs if they got rounded out.

This rite here is the best idea. Good luck.

Here is another workaround to consider:

Grind the heads of the bolts flush to the surface of the flywheel. Pull the FW and (with it out of the way) you can probably get a pipe wrench on the part of the bolt that remains.

This works much better on flywheel bolts than flexplate bolts due to the greater thickness of the plate. I don't have a FW handy to measure but it looks to be about 1/2". Here are a couple of images of an OEM FW for a 1986 Chevy 350:

You might even find that the heat generated during the grinding operation turns out to have broken the bond between the bolts and crank bolt holes. And they can be backed all the way out with just a pair of Chanellocks.

Just another option to consider.

OK got it done! I hammered a craftsman bolt-out on each 11/16" bolt, heated them up real good with a propane torch, and they came right out with a 1/2" breaker bar. Thanks everyone for the suggestions I appreciate it!
