Just picked up my first square body.
When I first got her she wasn't starting and the battery was dead completely along with the distributor and spark plugs so I ended replacing battery, plugs , wires and distributor/rotor.

I know I need to time and possibly some other stuff but she fired up and drove pretty decent but just bumpy and and idling bad to the point of turning off at the light or stop sign.

Yesterday I went to start her up and there was no gas pumping through the filter so I replaced the filter and the fuel pump, she started up and started pumping fuel again only to stop after 10 minutes and do the same thing. What could be stopping fuel flow?

Please shoot any tips and things to do to get her ready for the road again

Side note before I bought the truck it was sitting for 2 years without starting.
And I got the transmission rebuilt since the reverse didn't work.

Cool truck. Welcome from VA. Is it the same old gas in the tank you got the truck with? Been 2 years right?

Thanks and yes the right side tank was full which I was running off of at first and then I filled the left side up fully and added some sea foam to clear the lines while running on fresh gas to see if that would help some and that's when I started going through the gas not pumping.
I can't see it through the filter and there's nothing in carb so it's not even trying to turn over when I go to Start it

Keep at it. You'll get where you need to be. All these squares have their share of nuances when it comes to the fuel(dual tanks) aspect. Good luck dude!

On a ‘86 the left side tank is the main and right side the aux.

Pull the short rubber line off the carburetor and replace it with a long rubber line that will reach a container for gas. Then turn the truck over with the starter and see if you get fuel out from the fuel pump. If you get nothing, then take the filter out and try again. You need to verify the fuel pump is drawing fuel from the tank and pushing it to the carburetor.

For a start test you can also use a funnel to pour some fuel into that rubber line and fill the float bowl. I think you can also look at the inspection window on the side of a Holley to check the float bowls are full. Then pour a little more fuel directly into the carburetor throat and try to start it. It should start, and idle for a while on the fuel in the float bowl.

One trick they use on Roadkill with old fuel is to install 3 filters in the rubber line. If it stops flowing fuel, the first filter closest to the pump is clogged, so remove it and reconnect. Next time remove the 2nd, etc.
