Sears has this viper box for originally 1000$ it's marked down to 760$ and I get half off my first box from going to college at UNOH
So I'd only be spending 360-400 total
Good deal on a first box?

At $400, yeah that's a pretty good deal. The only thing I don't understand is that box is rated at 17,293 cu in. storage capacity. For comparison, the Harbor Freight combo is slightly bigger but is rated at 25,900 cu in. storage...50% more than the Sears box.

Retail on the HF combo is around $670, if you can apply your college discount outside of Sears I would look at the HF units before making a decision. For home use the HF boxes are a great value.

I don't believe hf honors the discount
I can get 1/2 off first toolbox and first toolset
It's the floor model also
But there's no scratches or dents and all the drawers are still very sturdy
I look at the box bout every week
Hopefully I'll have the cash for it next weekend

If your set on that box.. Get them to do lay away.. That would get it off the floor.. Then pay all when the cash is in the pocket.. I do that all the time with hand guns.. It keeps others from messing with it..

I like that idea
I'll look later today
But I'm not sure with it being marked down and the floor model if they will do it

It's in layaway
Couldn't get the discounts off clearance
But still less than 600$ and it's perfect for being a floor model

I hope it has ball bearings in the drawer slides.
I bought a set of Sears boxes a few years back, all I could afford was the cheap ones that didn't have ball bearings, and the boxes are crap.
Drawers won't slide and some of the spot welds they used to weld the drawer slide mounts to the box have broken.
I suspect the toolboxes are one item they won't give a lifetime warranty on.
Someday I will get a decent box.

It does
It's made by viper
I can hang from the drawer and it be smooth
It doesn't have to last me forever
Just long enough to get a bigger box

That's gonna last you a long time. My first set was a Craftsman combo smaller than that and I used it for 25 years.

Sears offers a 16" side box for that but they must think it's made of gold. At $575, it's nearly triple what it should sell for. Keep an eye on it though, eventually they'll discontinue the line and sell the remaining stock for cheap. HF did that when they switched from the pebble finish to gloss boxes.

I hope it'll last a few years
It's a little on the small side for heavy diesel equipment and ag tech
I got this because of the tall drawers for the big ratchets and bars
My goal is to get the biggest kobalt box they make and have it full without going into debt
Main reason I'll never buy snap on unless it's something specialty

Yep
Couple have friends have went and bought 10,000$ between box and tools
I've spent maybe a grand total in three years including this box
And I drive an 85 square and they got 2008 cummins and are at least 20k in debt lol
Screw that
I'll stick with used and taken care of

Looks like a good box, I have a Craftsman upper and lower with ball bearing drawers that my mom got me for graduating from ONU, I was a business major too!

Another good source for tools is Amazon.
OTC makes a lot of the specialty tools for the auto manufactures and I have found them at half price of what the tool trucks charge. If you break one just don't tell your Mac or Snap on dealer where you got it and if they carry the same tool (most of them do) they will warranty it for you.

Here is one example http://www.amazon.com/OTC-4673-Sens...?ie=UTF8&qid=1412504316&sr=8-117&keywords=otc
