My timing was so far off that my 85 C20 backfired big enough to split my LH muffler from end to end, catching my filler neck and hose on fire. Fortunately we were able to get it out with a fire extinguisher - the dry powder kind. I had a fresh full tank. Once I got the repairs done I used the other tank and all was fine until I switched tanks. I couldn't find anything on line about any fuel related follow up issues, or even anyplace to ask. Maybe here would have been a good idea, My engine seized after a couple miles. I guess it's time for a teardown, starting with the pan, I'm thingking the mains and rod bearings are probably galled, at the least. Any thoughts on cylinders and rings? I'm hoping I can flush the top and cylinders out without a complete rebuild if damages are limited to the bottom end.

COmments?

Make sure the engine is actually seized

Remove or loosen all the belts from the engine
And make sure the trans is free

But if the engine is locked up
You’re gonna have to pull it and do a full rebuild
Don’t try to only rebuild half of it
