Finally, something without a computer under the hood.

Was driving home, in the dark, a few weeks ago and my eyes fell onto something sitting alongside a barbed wire fence. A square body Chevy with a for sale sign stuck in the windshield. Went back and looked it over, isn't pretty but has a lot of potential. Got hold of the owner and went to see it in the daylight. Fired up the 250 and I was sold on it. Guy said he rescued the truck from a farmer's field, told me it has some rust but he was willing to throw in a better cab, another hood and would deliver them all for free. What a deal. As to the title, I'm tired of walking into a parts store to pay good money for little computer modules that likely cost $5 to make.

Welcome!
I too was excited for a computer-less vehicle. Then I find out because I have the California emissions package that my carb is "computer controlled". Basically, it's the closest to TBI you can get without being TBI. Either way all the junk is coming off soon and it'll get an analog carburetor!

Welcome to the group!

We are not real fans of the computer controlled vehicles either.
Our newest one is from 1995, from there we jump clear over the 80's stuff and have three that are in the 70's. From there we have two that are in the 50's.

Well, welcome to the group, most of what I own is early computer controller things...
The most simplistic is probably the holley sniper on my big block in my 79.

Next being my tbi 89 suburban.

But, for what it's worth, I've own other squares that were just a carb and a turbohydromatic 3 speed, and I did like those just as much myself.

I have a lot of the know-how of how to work on the cars that have a lot of computer stuffs.

However, that said, I wouldnt want to touch a early 90s cadillac.

For reasons
lol

Once integration under the same port for most things, a scan tool that can do them, or at least the wiring reductions done with class 2, things got easier after a high point in the mid 90s with "does it apply to this or does it not" and using chips for programs and etc..
