I have done one in the clock spot and it was ok. Not perfect, but good enough for the purpose.

You ever try polishing the gauge cluster lens? Toothpaste made for whitening has just the right amount of abrasive to remove minor scratches. A few minutes with a dab on a damp cloth works wonders. (Of course, nothing will remove that one over the tach.)

Never tried on a cluster, but tried tooth paste on a plastic headlights before with marginal result. The cluster in the picture went through many changes after picture was taken, including being sold with tach moved to a different one

Some toothpaste is better than others. I used to use Pearl Drops but I haven't seen that in stores for a while. Last time I had my dash apart I tried a dab of car wax and GS27 Scratch Remover. That seemed to go a lot quicker than toothpaste but you need a little more water on the rag to act as a wetting agent.
