I came here because I recently bought a 78 k20. Im kinda new to working on trucks. And I’m hoping to be able to find some answers here.
My truck currently has 33x12.50 R16.5 tires on it. Those tires seem to be very expensive.
What I’m looking for is what size rims I can put on this that will have more options for some less expensive tires?
As of now it’s my daily. In northeast Ohio so I guess I’m looking for something decent in the snow. Thank you to everyone in advance!

Yes 16.5s are not very common any more. You can put 16s, 17s or 18s. I believe they came stock with 16" wheels.
I like to keep them original, so my choice would be 16s. 17s and 18s are probably more common these days.
I am not sure what would be the best priced size.
I have 3 trucks with the 16.5s, for some reason, so I feel your pain!!

I guess what I really need to get is a manual. I know that it’s 8 lugs with a 6.5 bolt circle. But I don’t know the hub bore size. Or what all the offsets mean. I’m looking at rims on summit racing and there’s just so many options. I really don’t even know how wide the rim should be.‍♂️

I guess the manual would only tell me what stock is. Not what all my choices could be. I imagine I could get the best deal on stock size tires though. Anyway I really appreciate the quick response and welcomes. I can see my self spending some time here. Is this a good place to buy/sell parts as well?

You must have 50 posts to sell. Not sure about buying. Check out this link:

Welcome to GMSB. Since you're excited to be here, go take a cold shower. BTW, nice truck!

Wow this is awesome! I’m looking forward to getting this truck a bit more enjoyable to ride, and I think this is really going to help. Thank you

Welcome fellow Buckeye. I would stay with 16. Factory steel with dog dish hubcaps look great or spokes.

Welcome from the Texas Panhandle.
Nice truck.
I'd go with 16s too, or maybe 17s, since there are more tire options for them. Anything larger looks kind of goofy to me.
17s sound good to me. Would you maybe know anymore spec’s on rims?besides 8 lug 6.5 bolt circle. I think my rim currently is a 10.5 wide. If I go thinner would that be weird?ps. I’m actually having a hard time finding rims outside of 7-8 inches wide.

Right on! I think that looks great. I’m assuming you get decent prices and options for that size as well. How wide is your rim?

That's a 16x8 Crager rim. I think the offset is 4.5. You can still find a limited selection of 16s, I would not go any bigger.

Come on in and calm down. wheel width will depend on the tire you want to run, ish. About the widest 16 wheel I've seen is 7 maybe 8 inches. 16 inch tires seem to be tall and narrow, fine with me, it's what I like. If you want to run a wide tire like you have now on that nice truck prob should be looking at 17's. Being how your planning on buying wheels anyway, figure out what tire you want then find a wheel you like. None of that is gospel, just what an old fat man remembers and opinion.
